Accruals for delivered lessons or a fixed monthly salary, payouts, and a teacher cabinet that shows their own earnings.

Calculating teacher pay by hand after every reschedule or cancellation is one of the biggest chores in an online school. In Mimiao, accruals follow the chosen compensation model, while marking a payout paid is a separate action.
How accruals are created
For per-lesson compensation, when a lesson moves to the Delivered status, the system automatically creates an accrual record for the teacher. The amount is calculated from the terms set in the teacher’s profile:
- Fixed rate per lesson — the same amount regardless of duration.
- Percentage of the payout basis — a share of the delivered lesson’s value.
- Fixed monthly salary — accrues in calendar cycles, with a partial period prorated.
An authorised staff member sets the compensation terms. They take effect from a chosen date and preserve the history of earlier accruals.
Important: in the per-lesson model, accruals are created only for lessons that were actually delivered. A fixed monthly salary accrues in its calendar cycle. Reschedules and cancellations follow the school’s rules.
Accrual statuses
Every accrual moves through just two statuses:
- Accrued — the record was just created automatically after the lesson was delivered; it isn’t part of any payout yet.
- Paid — the system records that the payout was made outside Mimiao.
An authorised staff member sees how much the school owes each teacher, batches unpaid accruals into a payout, and marks it paid. If approval mode is enabled for the school, marking the payout paid requires a separate approval.
When to pay
Each teacher’s card has a payout frequency: weekly, every two weeks, monthly, a custom interval (in days), or manual — in which case a payout is never generated automatically.
The system shows unpaid accruals and helps prepare a payout on the chosen schedule. You can also generate a payout manually at any time.
What the teacher sees
Each teacher has their own earnings cabinet, the My Earnings section, with three figures at the top:
- Accrued this month — the total of all accruals for the current calendar month.
- Paid — the amount of accruals already paid out.
- Awaiting payout — the difference that hasn’t been transferred yet.
Below is a feed of lessons with details: date, student/group, duration, accrual amount, and status.
The teacher does not see colleagues’ pay, the school’s finances, or students’ financial data — only their own.
How to make a payout
- Go to Finances → Teacher Payouts — the page shows how much the school owes each teacher, plus the earliest and latest unpaid-accrual dates.
- Click Generate payout next to the teacher — the system collects every unpaid accrual into one payout.
- Optionally attach a payment-proof file.
- Make the transfer through your bank or other payment channel, then click Mark as paid. If approval mode is enabled for the school, an authorised person must approve that mark first.
You can mark payouts paid one at a time or in bulk.
Viewing by period
The Finances → Teacher Report section gives you a summary: how many lessons each teacher delivered, the total accruals, the amount paid, and the remaining balance. Handy at month-end close.
