Homework

Homework in Mimiao isn’t a separate chat or a folder in Drive — it’s a complete cycle from assigning to grading, with clear statuses for everyone involved.

Creating an assignment

A teacher creates homework from the lesson card or from the Assignments section. An assignment contains:

• Text — instructions, questions, links to materials.
• Files — attached documents, audio, images.
• Deadline — an optional due date.

The assignment is tied to a specific lesson, or to a student or group without a lesson. Once saved, the student sees it in their cabinet right away.

Student submission

The student opens the assignment, types an answer in the text field or attaches files, and taps “Submit”. The assignment status changes from “Assigned” to “Submitted”.

Students can submit only before grading — once the teacher has graded the work, the student sees the mark and feedback but can no longer edit the submission.

Teacher grading

The teacher sees every new submission under Assignments → Needs review. Grading takes a few seconds:

1. Open the student’s submission.
2. Read the answer.
3. Give a mark (numeric or text, depending on your school’s settings) and/or write feedback.
4. Tap “Reviewed”.

The status changes to “Reviewed”, and the student gets a notification.

Deadlines and overdue work

In the main assignment list, overdue items are flagged in red — visible at a glance, no filters needed. The “Overdue” filter shows every assignment where the deadline has passed and nothing has been submitted.

Submitting on time earns the student coins — they’re awarded automatically when gamification is turned on.

Optional gate: no graded homework, no next lesson

If a school wants to reinforce accountability, there’s a “Homework gate” setting: until the teacher has graded the homework for the current lesson, the next lesson in the schedule stays locked and can’t be delivered.

The gate can be turned on globally in Settings → Homework, or individually for a specific student or group. If this kind of strictness isn’t right for your school, simply leave it off.

Parents see the statuses

In the parent portal, parents see the status of each of their child’s assignments: assigned, submitted, reviewed, overdue. No access to the assignment’s content or marks — just the status. That’s enough to keep parents in the loop without extra calls to the school.
