Getting Started
Set up your school in Mimiao in one evening: timezone, team, first students, schedule, and your first invoice.
Updated:
When you create a school in Mimiao, a workspace with pre-configured roles is ready immediately. This guide covers the minimum you need to go live — most schools get there in a single evening.
1. Configure your school
In Settings → School, fill in the basics: name, timezone, and currency. The timezone matters — lesson reminders and daily reports are calculated from it.
In Settings → Languages & Levels, add the languages you teach and your level scale (e.g., A1–C1). These show up when creating students and groups.
2. Invite your team
Go to Settings → Team and send invitations to administrators and teachers. Each person receives an email and sets their own password.
- Administrators see students, schedule, finances, and leads.
- Teachers see only their own students, schedule, and earnings.
You can tighten or expand permissions later — roles are flexible.
3. Add students
Two options:
- One by one — click “Add student” in the Students section: name, contact, language, level.
- Import — if you have an existing spreadsheet, use student import from Excel/CSV: the system validates data and flags duplicates before saving anything.
4. Build your schedule
In Schedule, create your first lessons. For recurring sessions, choose a “series” — for example, “every Tuesday and Thursday at 6 PM”. The series populates the calendar automatically, and rescheduling one lesson never breaks the rest.
5. Send the first invoice
In a student’s profile → Finance tab → “Create invoice”: set the number of lessons and amount. After payment — by card via link or cash confirmed by an admin — lessons are credited to the student’s balance. The system deducts one lesson automatically every time a session is marked complete.
Your school is live. Next, set up automated reminders — they eliminate the biggest chunks of repetitive work.
